New Staff Orientation
Hello and welcome to the team! New staff orientation is a virtual orientation on Google Meet.
New staff orientation is mandatory to attend. It is designed to ensure you know our policies and expectations as you enter the summer season. We will review: Employee Handbook, Uniform & Grooming Expectations, Scheduling & Availability, Time Keeping, Customer Service, and Disciplinary Corrections.
Expectations during the meeting:
- Camera on and an appropriate background displayed
- Consistent focus on the orientation, no distractions
- Arrive on time and stay for the duration of the orientation
- If your camera is off or you are visibly distracted, you will be required to attend another orientation
Columbus Pre-Class Swim Test
This skills test will take 30 minutes and is a requirement for all new lifeguards to attend before their Lifeguard Certification Class.
What is included in the swim test?
- Swimming 100yds either freestyle or breaststroke.
- Tread for 2 minutes with no hands
- Submerge feet first and retrieve a 10lb rubber brick from the deepest part of the pool.
What should I wear/ bring?
You will need to come in a professional style bathing suit. One piece suit for females, short style swim trunks for males. Long hair must be pulled back.
You will also need a towel. Goggles are NOT allowed. There will be locker rooms available for changing.
Pre-Class Swim Test
with Certified SGI
This skills test should take 45-60 minutes and is a requirement for all new lifeguards to attend before their Lifeguard Certification Class. If you plan to complete your onboarding paperwork at this time, please plan to arrive 15-20 minutes early.

What is included in the swim test?

- Documentation to complete your I9, please view page 2 of the I9 in your checklist for a complete list of acceptable documentsYou will need either:
- ONE document from list A or
- ONE document from List B AND ONE document from List
- List A most common document: US Passport
- List B most common documents: Driver's License, School ID with photo
- List C most common documents: Social Security Card, Birth Certificate
- All documents must be originals, not photo copies, and may not be expired

This course is only for current SwimSafe employees. If you have not yet interviewed, you must do that before registering for this class.
Your employment with SwimSafe is contingent on passing this course and instructor recommendation.
The purpose of the StarGuard Lifeguard Training Course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services arrive.
You are required to complete the online training component before you show up to class. The online training will be shared 10 days before class. If you don't have an email invitation to the online training, you need to email Scott. Please budget your time accordingly. We expect you to be prepared for class by learning the information presented in the online course.
New Lifeguard Training @ West Clermont HealthPlex
with Certified SGI
BEFORE REGISTERING: This course is only for current SwimSafe employees. If you have not yet interviewed, you must do that before registering for this class.
Your employment with SwimSafe is contingent on passing this course and instructor recommendation.
The purpose of the StarGuard Lifeguard Training Course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services arrive.
ONLINE TRAINING: You are required to complete the online training component before you show up to class. The online training will be shared with you 10 days before your scheduled class. Please budget your time accordingly. We expect you to be prepared for class by learning the information presented in the online course.
PRECLASS SWIM TEST: You must have attended and passed the pre-class swim test in order to attend class.
West Clermont HealthPlex requires ALL participants to complete a liablity waiver. Those under 18 years old must have it signed by a legal guardian. Click here to access the waiver.
Renewal Lifeguard Training @CNAC
with Certified SGI
This course is only for current SwimSafe employees in good standing. Since the training is free, your certification will belong to SwimSafe Pool Management. Your certification will only be released to you with payment.
The purpose of the Renewal Lifeguard Training Course is to recertify lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services arrive.
Please be sure your online training is completed prior to attending class. The online training will be shared 10 days before class. If you are experiencing issues with logging into the portal, please email Scott. Please budget your time accordingly. The online material takes about 4 hours for renewal guards.
